GRASS-FED GOURMET CERTIFIED ORGANIC BEEF

At East River Organic Farm we raise a heritage breed of cattle called the American Devon. The Devon breed was introduced into this country in 1623 and were the predominant homesteading breed for many years. Devon cattle are one of the best known breeds in the world for converting pasture into high quality, nutritious beef.
We are working with Gearld Fry from the Bakewell Reproductive Center http://www.bakewellrepro.com/ to improve the genetics of our Devon cattle. Curly, the calf pictured to the right above, is the first calf produced from breeding one of our Devon cows to Bakewell's New Zealand based RotoKawa Devon Bull number 982.

Our commitment to raising quality animals on fresh, certified organic grass means the highest quality beef you can buy. Studies prove that grass-fed beef has superior levels of heart healthy CLA (Conjugated linoleic acids) and omega 3 fatty acids.
FREEZER BEEF
We also offer freezer beef in quarter, half and whole sizes. Our freezer beef price is $2.25 per pound on the hanging weight plus processing. Processing cost range from $0.35 to $0.40 per pound on the hanging weight depending on the processor, the size of the order and your cutting preferences. A quarter will average about 175 pounds on the hanging weight, so expect to pay approximately $450 for a quarter total.
We are currently processing with C. Roy's out of Yale who have their organic certificate and also McNee's Meats out of North Branch.
